Swami Gilamananda.. really?

Yesterday, television broadcast hit a new low in Tamil Nadu when private video footage of a certain God man and an actress of yesteryear was aired in a private News channel. People have been YouTubing the man like never before.( I wouldn't be surprised if was Googled more times than Megan Fox in the last 30 hrs!)

Angry protesters are setting fire to banners while fuel prices are going up. They're shutting down his 'ashrams' and 'retreats' because they don't have day jobs. Petitioners have filed a case against him under Sec 294(b) IPC(which relates to obscenity!) because there aren't enough cases pending in courts already.

Who aired the video ? What obscene act did the 'Swami' indulge in publicly? He scored an actress because he has the money and power to do so. Or perhaps he is even in a serious relationship with the woman. He should be the one filing a case here.He is being made scapegoat because we are too proud to admit we were stupid. It is a breach of his personal space and privacy. If it was a journalist who came up with the idea of wiring his bedroom,he must be sued!

Do any of us practice what we preach? More specifically,in this context, is it possible for any of us to practice abstinence(unless enforced)? Won't you bite the cake and eat it too when you get the chance?

All of us are hypocrites in one way or the other. We want our country to grow, but we don't pay our taxes because we want more! We crib about the system being corrupt and bribe the traffic police constable. We have change to fill hundials inside temples but have none for the old beggar outside. We associate ourselves with religions and philosophies which we don't follow, yet we fight for them. From fake smiles to our everyday prayers I can fill this entire page with our pretentiousness.

And when someone amongst us humans claims to be all that we cannot be as a species, we believe him. We shower him with largesses and worship him . Why? It is because we believe he can give us something that we don't have. We submit to his will and remain servile. Till one day when his humanness is exposed. Holy crap on my prashadam! The guy is HUMAN!

A friend told me that our religion stipulates Godmen to practice celibacy and be 'pure'. Well, our religion stipulates a million other things which we conveniently reject. The guy became a Godman because we believed what he said. Had we not believed in the first place, he would've probably become a successful Insurance salesman or a medical salesman. Instead, look what we did. He is going to jail and can't sleep with the actress for a while before he buys out his imprisonment.

Time waste money waste :(

Exactly manu ..... i dont see any reason y he should be punished for having a relationship. Its idiocracy to think one should go to jail for not practising what he preaches. In fact its height of stupidity. Though i have to admit i did have a good laugh at the video , its a bloody invasion of privacy and they should be sued to their last penny . Hiring it in a public (so called 'family entertainment channels') channel with children around the house, holy crap that is.... Most important of all (not giving any credentials to swami gilma here) but y cant a person indulging in "manly activities" preach something godly or religious stuff or something philosophical ? y should virginity and purity go together ?? u can accept a god who has a wife and 2 children or a god who is gopiyar konjum ramanan but u burn and protest violently when a man does somehthing manly...!!!!!! all big , useless hypocrism

ha ha ha! you hit the nail on the head my friend. people should practice things these godmen have to say for the things they preach and the difference it would make to their lives.not for the chastity of the people who preach.

the swami ia not a hypocrite... his programs do not advocate celibacy.. i don hv a prob wit him humping filmstars.. but this fellow is commercializin spirituality.. since thrs no law against tht, this pretext seems convenient

@instinct
he conveniently claimed to be saint according to the Hindu definition which he isn't . nevertheless i agree that commercialization of spiritual practices destroy their very purpose. it is a shame that people don't realize it. again not the swami's fault. people do what makes them feel good da.

Ha,atlast a post that makes some sense (for me). All I hav read/heard about after this sleaze episode is abuse and more abuse hurled at an ordinary HUMAN supposedly having a deep knowledge in scriptures and philosophy. Personal privacy is taking a back seat especially for ppl like him. He's definitely being made a scape goat may be because of some previous enmity with the Marans over some land issue or something( Ahem I'm just speculating, seriously).
Anyway coming back to the topic, all this outage is just too much, I mean come on what's wrong if he's having some 'nice time' with a woman, if we make a moral judgement then yeah some ppl can't stand it but again its his PERSONAL wish.
When we move away from the moral judges, comes the 'religious jurists' claiming its against customs and blah blah blah. One close look at religious history and we'll know that even great Saints like Viswamithra was overcome by lust (no offence meant, hope I'm not affecting any 'religious sentiments', also note I'm not comparing Viswamitra with Nithyananda). So ppl plz stop talking with the 'Sex is Sin' approach.

Lastly I don't know if that actress is married or not but what if him and the actress plan to marry( again pure speculation). What the F@#$ can this family entertainment or 24/7 news channel do then?

Grow up and move on!

@ anand

precisely! we're in a minority my friend. swami supporters are vry hard to come by. n btw interesting bit of speculation. why would something lik this surface all of a sudden?

latest 'swami update'. Law college students are protesting and demanding the swaimi's arrest. they're burning effigies and hurling stones at random civilians. I hope Mr Kapil sibal is taking note of all this. Instead of playing around with harmless 10th and 12th std kids he should look at what is being taught in these professional institutions. apparently, there is an elective on how to hurl projectiles and destroy private property for no reason. the students across law colleges (in TN at least) seem to choose it every semester. :(

That was really thoughtful!
As long as ppl are totally brainless, this kinda issue will keep cropping.
